Prof Ajay K Jain is working as a Full Professor at Management Development Institute Gurgaon (MDIG) since September 2015 and also leading a center of excellence for Indian Thought and Management. He has joined MDI Gurgaon as Assistant Professor in December 2003 after completing his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and a post-doctoral fellowship from Indian School of Business Hyderabad.
During his tenure with MDI, Prof Jain has worked at several administrative positions for example, OB Area Chair (2009- 2012; 2015-2018), Chairman, Executive Management Program (2015-2018), and Dean Executive Graduate Programs and Consultancy (2020-2021). He has contributed significantly to MDI’s executive programs and that have become his core strength. He has also learned the art of networking and expanded the network in the industries. He got connected with several CEOs and MDs of various organizations and civil servants from various ministries.
Furthermore, Prof Jain has also taken an extra-ordinary leave from MDI on two occasions. First time, he went to Aarhus University, Denmark (2012-2014) and worked as a visiting professor and a post-doctoral fellow where I received an award for extra-ordinary performance for my research and publications in 2013. Prof Jain is traveling to Aarhus Summer University since 2010 onwards to teach courses on “leading and designing organizations” and “leadership and emotional intelligence in organizations”.
Second time, he has accepted the Director’s position at Institute of Management Studies Ghaziabad (2018-2019) and where he has received a prestigious award of most charismatic leader in management education from Education Post and ASSOCHAM in Jan 2019 and also selected by competition success review (CSR) in in the list of emerging directors. He has also received various other academic opportunities nationally and internationally. I visited to Lancaster University, UK, Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, IULM University, Milan, University of Verona, Italy; University of Polytechnic, Madrid, University of Free State, South Africa; and Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, Ranchi and Bodhgaya etc for various other academic assignments. Moreover, he has been also been invited by India’s top institutions and organizations as a key note speaker and to deliver guest lectures including, IIPA New Delhi, HIPA Gurgaon, ONGC Academy Dehradun, LNG Academy Dahej and Kochin, Neyvali Lignite Corporation, GAIL Academy, IIPM (Indian Oil), NADT Nagpur, INGAF New Delhi, RAKNAPS Ghaziabad, NIA Dwarka, CRPF Academy, Kadarpur and Mount Abu, BSF Academy Tekanpur, CDTI Ghaziabad, CPWD Ghaziabad, etc. Also, I am invited by more than 30-40 other private and public sector institutions and universities in India.
As a researcher, he has published more than 64 research articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals and in the edited books including, International Journal of Hospitality Management (A*), Personnel Review (A), Journal of Knowledge Management (A), Psychology and Marketing (A), International Journal of Stress Management (A), Journal of Managerial Psychology (B), Journal of Management History (B), Journal of Management and Organization (B), Leadership and Organization Development Journal (B), and Leadership (B) are among others. Out of 64 articles, almost 40 are published in ABDC listed journal or in journal with impact factors. He has also been a recipient of best paper awards from the National Academy of Psychology India and Emerald for my research papers.
He has also completed almost 10 consulting assignments for clients, e.g., UCO Bank, Ministry of Statistics, DMRC, DVC, ICAI etc.
As a corporate trainer, He has successfully delivered more than 100 management development programs and trained more than 15000 senior managers from private companies including ABB, Nestle, Taijin, Denso, Suzuki, BSES Rajdhani, HDFC, Hero, and public sector organizations like ONGC, CPWD, Power Grid, NBCC, NPCCL, NPCIL, MES, NADP and defence organizations BSF, CRPF, NIA, etc. My training sessions on leading self, and Emotional Intelligence have received huge appreciation from the senior and top managers of these organizations. I also conduct open MDPs on transforming organizations, the art of leadership and emotional intelligence. I am recognized by industry for my service orientation and value addition.
He is also an external member of senate at IIT Indore, a corporate advisor to Pasona India Pvt India (HR consulting firm), and also been a member of various award and selection committees of in several other institutions, corporations, and academic bodies. He is highly inspired by work of Dasrath Manjhi also by his father, Late Shri Mool Raj Jain, Dy S.P. in UP police, who have taught him the values of honesty, integrity, discipline, and hard work.
He is a self-confident person who is practicing forgiveness and gratitude and a strong believer of Indian though in management. His teaching philosophy can be described in two statements, (1) making it simple and useful; and (2) to bring a sense of togetherness. As an academic leader, He believes in strategy of integration and create a culture of mutual respect.
